Product Overview
The Hitch Pin with Hair Pin – H-Type (L-HPH-0001 to L-HPH-0032) is a medium-carbon steel drawbar and linkage coupling pin covering OA 9.5-32 mm in 32 sizes, supplied pre-assembled with a wire hair pin for immediate use. The H-head profile provides a broad bearing surface for thumb pressure during one-handed insertion and withdrawal, making it the most practical pin type for frequent implement changes in field conditions.
Hitch pins are replaced frequently on working agricultural equipment, both through wear and through loss of the retention hair pin. Supplying the pin and hair pin as a pre-assembled unit eliminates the need to source matching retention clips separately and ensures that the correct clip diameter is always fitted for the pin shank diameter. The 32-size range covers the full span of drawbar and linkage pin diameters used across major tractor brands.
Material Specification and Technical Detail
The L-HPH series is produced from medium-carbon steel bar, machined to the specified shank diameter, overall length, and cross-hole position. The H-head is formed to provide a broad, flat contact area for thumb insertion without sharp edges that could cause hand injury during gloved operation. Zinc plating is applied after machining for corrosion resistance in outdoor storage and field exposure.
The hair pin supplied with each hitch pin is selected for the correct wire diameter to match the cross-hole in the shank. The wire diameter provides sufficient spring retention force to hold the clip in position under normal drawbar vibration loads without being so stiff that it cannot be removed quickly by hand. Both pin and clip are tested together before packaging to confirm assembly fit.

Application and Operating Environment
The L-HPH series is used for coupling implements to tractor drawbars, connecting stabiliser bars to the lower link frame, and securing implement mounting pins where a fast-release retained pin is required. The pre-assembled hair pin allows coupling to be completed in one operation without separately handling the retention clip. Compatible with John Deere, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, Kubota, Case IH, Fendt, and Claas across the full drawbar and linkage pin diameter range.
For applications requiring a more positive lock that cannot be accidentally released, the Hitch Pin – Locking Collar variant provides the same shank geometry with an over-centre spring collar that must be deliberately compressed to release. For high-visibility identification in shared-use machinery, the Red Handle variant provides a coloured head. All variants are available from the same product range.
OEM Compatibility and Cross-Reference
The L-HPH series is dimensionally compatible with hitch pin specifications from John Deere, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, Kubota, Case IH, Fendt, and Claas. Shank diameter, overall length, and cross-hole position are verified against OEM hardware samples. The 32-size range covers the most commonly used drawbar and linkage pin dimensions across these brands.
Distributors can stock this series as a universal hitch pin replacement range for mixed-brand fleets, reducing the number of separate OEM part numbers required for routine pin replacement. For complete linkage overhaul projects, a 3-point hitch kit provides the full set of linkage components in a single order.
Installation Procedure
Follow the steps below for correct installation of the Hitch Pin with Hair Pin – H-Type in standard agricultural coupling applications.
Select the Correct Shank Diameter
Match the pin OA diameter to the clevis or drawbar hole. The pin should slide in with a hand-push fit and minimal side-play. Excessive clearance accelerates wear; interference fit prevents insertion.
Insert Pin Through the Coupling
Push the pin through the clevis jaws or drawbar hole until the H-head seats against the face of the coupling. The cross-hole should be fully clear of the coupling on the exit side.
Engage the Hair Pin
Push the hair pin through the cross-hole until the coil engages the face of the pin shank. The clip should be fully seated before any load is applied to the coupling.
Check and Replace After Wear
Inspect the pin shank for wear at the clevis contact faces at each service. A pin worn more than 0.5 mm below nominal diameter should be replaced. Always replace the hair pin if it has been bent or deformed.

Customer Feedback
“We have been stocking the Hitch Pin with Hair Pin – H-Type for two seasons across our dealer network in Normandy. Fit to John Deere and Claas equipment has been exact and we have had zero returns on dimensional grounds. The zinc finish is holding up well through wet field conditions.”
Patrick F. – France
“The Hitch Pin with Hair Pin – H-Type is exactly what we needed for our contracting fleet. Fast implement changes are important when you are working to a tight harvest schedule, and having a pin that couples and uncouples reliably with one hand saves time on every field entry.”
Gareth W. – United Kingdom
“Good product and straightforward ordering process. The Hitch Pin with Hair Pin – H-Type covers all the pin sizes we need for our Fendt and New Holland machines. Packaging is solid and part numbers are clearly marked, which makes goods-in processing quick.”
Lars N. – Denmark
